Hargoan is a quaint little village in Uttarakhand. It is known for its picturesque view of the Har-ki-dun valley and other peaks around. It is surrounded by a dense Pine and maple trees forest. It is located 2500 feet above the Sankri village. Several trekkers frequent the Hargoan village, often spending the night here. This village leads to a beautiful trail to the Sankri village which further takes you to the Kedarkanta peak.

The locals at the village are mainly agrarians with farms and cattle to earn money from. The cattle herders from the village can be spotted in the meadows at higher altitudes like the Juda ka Talab and the Kedarkantha base camp.


During the summer months, the temperature ranges from 15-18 degree Celsius. The sun can sometimes get a little harsh during the day. This period extends from April to June.

During the winter months, there is ample amount of snow and the temperatures range from 5 degree Celsius.

During the monsoon period, the temperature ranges from 15-25 degree Celsius and the area receives 90% of its annual rainfall during the monsoon months that is from July to September. The village looks extremely beautiful during this period with fresh and green surroundings.


If you’re travelling by train, the closest railway station is the Dehradun railway station. This station is very well connected to all the major cities of the country with several trains frequenting every day.

If you’re travelling by air then the Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun will be the nearest airport. Please check the weather of the region while booking flights. Taxis are easily available from the airport to various parts on the Himalayan region.

If you’re travelling by road then take the Delhi-Mussourie road passing through the Himalayan expressway. It is safe and well maintained.

From Dehradun taxis or buses could be hired to reach Sankri fromwhich you could trek to Hargoan passing through several scenic sites of the Har ki dun and the dense pine and maple forests.
